wire model cst
Hi,
I am new to CST and would appreciate some help. My problem is very simple. I am trying to model wire antennas. I have therefore chosen the Antenna[Wire] model template.
My problem is when using a waveguide port to excite the wire. I keep getting the following error:
Port 1 is inhomgenously filled within first 3 meshes. Cannot start solver.
I have tried to increase the meshes, and visually to me the port is filled with more than 3 homogeneous meshes. I have also tried to increase the port size but that didnt help.
For the wire am using copper material with a radius of 1mm.
Discrete port seems to work fine, but I would prefer wave guide port.
Any help/advice will be appreciated.
For wire-antennas MoM tools are more useful usualy. NEC, EMC Studio, FEKO, WIPL-D.

Why do you prefer to use waveguide port? Especially with wire-antennas discret ports should work just fine.
Many thanks for your reply.
Yes I do agree with that MoM are better and faster when it comes to wire antennas but thats just from my experience and not technical knowledge. Am using CST because its more easier in generating complex antenna and structures.
As for discrete ports am just concerned that S-paramter calculations might not be very accurate; as wave propagate in more than one mode whereas in a waveguide you are sure its always one mode (TEM).
Also am not sure also if discrete ports are suitable if only one side of them is connected?
The fact that I cant use waveguides is just irritating me; everything seems to be fine it terms of meshes and boundaries, and I really would like to know where am going wrong.
If you could publish your antenna I could simulate it with MoM - you might se if results satisfy your expectations. Also probably someone will eb able to help you with particular problem in CST.
i believe VR4V6E39 is that you need to really check your mesh not just by increasing the values. the mesh density control has 4 control. try to change them each and you should see if it still in 3 homogeneous mesh.
just my opinion
Hi VR4V6E39
well i agree with people who recommended using discrete port with wire antennas in CST MWS.
the S parameters are fairly accurate . discrete port is not accurate for planar antennas like patches.
however if you like to get some help , you need to post your model for people to look at it
thanks
Many thanks e_m_c. I'll publish my wire-anetnna once am finished with the construction.
Thanks to everyine that replied. Attached is an image at the cross section of the port. Would you say the first 3 meshes are inhomogenously filled?
