is CST studio 2006 as good as HFSS9.1?
I used CST4.2 before, but the problem is that:
First, it can not give the imaiginary part of the Charecteristic Impedance of a Microstrip line if the dialectrice between the two strips has finite conductivity like 5000S/m
Second, it does not have the Field Calculator like that in HFSS. So the post processing of the result is not so robust
Now I may have a copy of CST Studio 2006, Who has used this Version?
is it becoming better than 4.2 version in postprocessing?
I have it, however large size ~2GBytes, I don't know how to share with you.
regards!
If you're referring to CST Microwave Studio, version 4.2 is pretty old. Maybe 5 or 6 years old? Why are you comparing old CST and old HFSS releases?
I'm pretty sure they allow lossy materials to touch the port surface now. One thing I like about CST is that you don't have to use an impedance line to get the characteristic impedance of a planar (or non-planar, for that matter) transmission line. They compute the Zo of your transmission line directly using the fields in the port solution.
I believe they also have a field calculator feature now. I haven't used it, so I can't comment on it much.
