In this video, we will talk about simulation options for placement. We've just seen the single solver approach – applies also for ships or aircraft – but we have a size constraint which would lead us to require a multiple solver hybrid approach. Regardlessof how we simulate, we are interested roughly in two things: antenna placementand coupling.
Implementing a 5G communications network infrastructure is expected to lead to densification of the infrastructure. More base stations covering smaller areas, but where do you put all these? It is inevitable that antennas will be installed alongside existing infrastructure,or there might be multiple antennas installed together in some configuration. Regardless, they will influence each other, and their performance will be affected.
We can study this using our mature hybrid solver technology. In this case, we can use the time domain solvers to simulate the arrays, and couple this in abi-directional sense using the MLFMM(I-solver) to simulate channel, i.e. the local environment.
In addition, the benefits to you in adopting a platform approach can’t be over-stated. Overthe last 2 decades, many of your companies have adopted modelling andsimulation applications for mechanical, electrical and manufacturing. Allthese applications have evolved independently. CAD applications embed their own3D modelling capabilities, have their own user interface, data formats andsecurity mechanisms. So do CAE applications and so on. The only way you could exchange information between these systems is by saving a file in one system and importing the file into the other system.
